1998 is the oldest vintage selected for the Saint James Velier collection. Bottled in 2018 and then stored in stainless steel vats, this vintage benefited from 20 years of aging in ex-bourbon oak barrels.
The 1998 harvest was marked by a drought rarely seen in the period from 1953 to 2016. This resulted in an optimal yield with impressive quantities of cane and, above all, perfect quality. After distillation, the rum quickly became characterized by aromas of ripe and sweet fruit.
