The Whisky Jury hasn’t bottled many Worthy Park rums, partly because the style can be a bit lighter and cleaner than the glue and varnish fireworks Jamaican rum is famous for. This 10 year old 2015 from a refill barrel, however, was impossible to ignore: fresh, complex, and beautifully balanced between light funk, bright fruit and baking spices. With only 137 bottles, it’s a great chance to taste Worthy Park at a level where it truly shows what it can do. Expect a clean Jamaican with finesse, warming spice and enough funk to stay interesting.
TASTING NOTES :
NOSE
Clean and energetic with pineapple, green banana and citrus zest. Behind that: light esters, more tropical freshness than glue, with sugarcane, vanilla and a bakery spice corner of cinnamon and nutmeg. Oak stays in the background, keeping it focused.
PALATE
Dry to lightly sweet and well defined. Bright fruit first, pineapple, lime and a hint of stone fruit, followed by creamy vanilla and a touch of caramel. Then the baking spices build: cinnamon, ginger and a pinch of clove, with a light funky lift that keeps it Jamaican without shouting. Refill barrel here means transparency and drinkability.
FINISH
Medium to long, clean and spicy. Fruit peels, vanilla and warm spices linger, with a subtle ester edge and a light, drying oak note to close.
