This is a rum from the Jamaican Hampden distillery from the 1990 vintage and of the mark C<>H (almost the highest ester level).
It aged for 31 years in a continental climate before being bottled at 54.5% in 228 copies by the team of salon du rhum.
The wine is golden in color.
On the nose, the typical rich esters of a long-aged continental C<>H profile are immediately apparent.
Notes of very ripe tropical fruits (pineapple, banana) are revealed, along with hints of glue, caper brine, green olive tapenade, and then yuzu and eucalyptus.
As is often the case with this type of wine, there is surprisingly little room for oak notes despite the many years of aging.
On the palate, the attack is intense yet controlled. Rich notes of mango jam and caramelized pineapple emerge, followed by anchovy and green olives, as well as lime and menthol notes, along with marzipan and supporting (but not dominant) oak.
Very long finish.
