Hampden's famous cask #76 is a true curiosity. It was filled with two different Hampden distillates: one from the HLCF brand and the other from the DOK brand.
The blending, therefore, took place before cask maturation. How this came about is unknown; presumably, there were leftover distillates that wouldn't have filled a cask completely. This would explain the name THE ONE AND ONLY.
Since both brands are highly regarded by Hampden enthusiasts due to their high ester levels (HLCF - 500-700) and (DOK - 1300-1400), it was clear even before tasting that this bottling would be essential for ester lovers. However, with only 251 bottles available, this essentiality was more likely to mean inaccessibility for many.
