Savanna - Private Collection by Excellence Rhum Single Cask Barrel 40 is a 2008 vintage molasses rum, aged for 15 years in Réunion.
From a single cask, it reflects a rigorous selection process carried out alongside cellar master Thierry Grondin, resulting in a rare expression of Réunion's expertise.
This rum is crafted from molasses sourced from the Bois Rouge sugar mill and distilled in 2008 in the renowned C20 column still at the Savanna distillery.
Aged entirely on the island for 15 years in an ex-Cognac cask, Cask 40 was chosen to launch the Collection Privée by Excellence Rhum.
The label was designed by Simon Teroy, aka Oneshoz, an iconic street artist from Réunion Island, bringing a local artistic dimension to this limited edition.
The nose opens with woody, vanilla, and biscuit notes, enriched with caramel and butter.
The palate, luscious and lively, reveals grapefruit, coconut, camphor, candied fruit, and raisin. An elegant bitterness reminiscent of coffee balances the whole.
The long, pastry-like finish prolongs the experience with a lingering, toasty roundness.
