This lot comes from the vineyards of François Voyer in the Grande Champagne appellation – known as the "Premier Cru" of Cognac for producing eaux-de-vie with exceptional aging potential and refined aromatic character.
The François Voyer estate cultivates approximately 28 hectares, primarily planted with Ugni Blanc (and more recently with Folle Blanche) in Verrières and Ambleville.
Color: A deep, warm amber gold with coppery highlights that hint at significant maturation.
Nose: A vibrant and expressive bouquet opens with tropical fruits—mango, papaya, passion fruit, and ripe banana—intertwined with subtle mint, sweet honey, and light leather notes. Beneath this, a delicate swirl of vanilla and polished oak emerges.
Palate: On the palate, it offers a rich, oily texture, enhanced by citrus and tropical notes, all combined with a refined oak influence. Vanilla, the richness of olive oil, and raisins mingle in the blend, balanced by moderate oak spice and a touch of sweetness despite its high strength.
Finish: A long, lively finish reveals leather, warm spices, and an evolving rancio, while maintaining surprising clarity and vibrancy. The high alcohol content (50.4%) is handled elegantly, assertively, and smoothly.
